‘The Big Society’ is the overarching ‘idea’ that encompasses the Coalition Government's policies to move power from the state to society; and from the centre to local communities, and to give people the opportunity to take more control over their lives.
EVA's pages on The Big Society aim to provide useful links and information on the Coalition Government's plans for the future of voluntary and community action.
The Big Society website includes information on ‘the idea’, a short film, and some information about ‘enabling you to make changes in the square mile where you live and/or work’. The plan is that the website will “grow into a resource library for your use; to give you the confidence and means to change your neighbourhood and improve your life”.
National and regional voluntary and community sector organisations provide regular and useful resources and responses on Government policy and its development in the voluntary and community sector. (Link opens another page on this website)
