Voluntary and community organisations are generally governed by volunteers on the Trustee Board or Management Committee or Board of Directors that takes overall responsibility for its work.
Staff may be employed to carry out the day-to-day running of the organisation - fundraising, providing activities, writing policies, managing finances etc.
Delivering excellent services to local residents in a purposeful, sustainable way is more likely to happen when your organisation is well run.
More about governance (link to NCVO website).
The Development and Funding Advice Service, in conjunction with the Community Accountant, can help your organisation to develop good governance, or can support and advise you if you want to start up a new organisation.
