Enfield Voluntary Action is known as EVA. We help people & groups access knowledge, skills & resources to make a difference in our Borough.
Workshops are held across the Borough in accessible venues and, initially, provide a free 12 week course, with a crèche, called ‘Doing It For Themselves’. For those who complete workbooks and 10 hours volunteering in the 'Stay & Play' Group, the course is NCFE accredited. Participants do not have to seek accreditation to benefit from this training.
Mums and Dads, or other full-time carers, develop skills in budgeting and planning, team-working, safeguarding, leadership, conflict resolution, paediatric first aid, mentoring, and food hygiene.
All graduates of the course receive a certificate and are empowered to set up their own weekly ‘Stay and Play’ groups for local parents, helping to build strong volunteer community networks of support.
The funding from National Lottery Reaching Communities continues until 2021 and also supports 50 participants to move on to further training with Enfield Council and EVA to equip them to apply for paid work in child care.
An accredited training & volunteer programme for parents to set up their own Stay & Play groups in the London Borough of Enfield. (Devised by EVA & Funded by National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.)
