Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs)

An informal lunchtime meeting
held quarterly. For all voluntary and community organisation staff working with volunteers.

This is the new scheme designed to prevent unsuitable people from working or volunteering with children under 18 or with vulnerable adults.
Employers who work with vulnerable people will only be allowed to recruit people who are ISA registered.
The scheme opened for applications to register in July 2010.

It is the duty of employers and Volunteer Involving Organisations to ensure that they comply with the new scheme, administered by the Independent Safeguarding Authority.
